Security Guard – Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Job Overview
Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto is supporting our employer partner with recruitment for Security Guard opportunities across the Greater Toronto Area.
We are seeking reliable, professional, and customer-focused Security Guards who are committed to maintaining safe and secure environments for clients, staff, visitors, and the public. This opportunity is suitable for candidates who hold a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence and are available to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional in public-facing and high-volume environments. Previous experience in security, customer service, law enforcement, military, or a related field is considered an asset, but entry-level candidates who meet the required qualifications may also be considered.
Duties
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor access points and support site-specific access control procedures.
- Provide professional customer service to clients, staff, visitors, and members of the public.
- Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, concerns, or emergencies in accordance with site procedures.
- Support conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed.
- Maintain accurate reports, logs, and documentation of daily activities, observations, and incidents.
- Follow company policies, client site procedures, and applicable safety regulations.
- Work professionally in high-volume and public-facing environments.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, clients, and emergency services when required.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence is required.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required. Standard First Aid is preferred for many roles.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability to work overnight shifts is considered an asset.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation is considered an asset, but is not required for all sites.
- Previous experience in security, customer service, law enforcement, military, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience working in high-volume, public-facing environments is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and CCC 494 lawful arrest procedures is considered an asset.
- For some hospital positions, candidates may be required to remain clean-shaven for N95 mask requirements.
- For some sites, candidates may be required to provide proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations.
