We are seeking an experienced Operations Controller to join a leading Canadian wholesale distribution company. Reporting to the CEO, you will partner with Procurement, Category Management, Logistics, and Finance to drive profitability, support purchasing decisions, manage vendor recoveries, and provide financial insight across key product categories.
Candidates should have recent experience with gross profit and margin analysis, along with reviewing purchase orders, vendor pricing, supplier contracts, and working closely with Procurement to support business decisions.
Produce industry experience is an asset, but candidates from wholesale distribution, manufacturing, food distribution, retail, supply chain, or similar industries are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Drive gross profit and margin performance across assigned product categories.
- Analyze financial results and recommend actions to improve profitability.
- Partner with Procurement and Category Managers on pricing, purchasing, and supplier decisions.
- Review purchase orders, vendor pricing, supplier contracts, freight costs, and commercial terms.
- Manage vendor claims, reconciliations, and recoveries.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and profitability analysis for leadership.
- Support budgeting, procurement planning, and continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of experience in Commercial Finance, Operations Finance, Procurement Finance, Trade Finance, FP&A, or Financial Analysis.
- Proven experience with gross profit and margin analysis.
- Experience reviewing purchase orders, supplier invoices, vendor pricing, and supplier contracts, while partnering with Procurement.
- Strong financial analysis and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
Preferred
- Experience in wholesale distribution, food, produce, manufacturing, supply chain, retail, or commodity trading.
- ERP systems, vendor claims, and financial reporting experience.
- CPA designation is an asset but not required.
Pay: Up to $125,000.00 per year
