Sandstorm Construction is a Western Canadian builder specializing in post, stick and steel‑frame construction for agricultural, commercial and industrial projects. We build post‑frame farm shops, machine sheds, barns, riding arenas and industrial buildings across rural Alberta.
Position summary
We are seeking a full‑time Construction Labourer to join our crew based out of Ryley, Alberta. In this role, you will support carpenters, siding installers and other trades on post‑frame and steel‑frame building sites throughout rural Alberta.
This position is aligned with NOC 75110 – Construction trades helpers and labourers.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload construction materials and move them to work areas on post‑frame and steel‑frame building sites.
- Assist tradespeople in erecting building frames and installing cladding, trims and other components.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps, ladders and temporary work platforms as directed and in accordance with safety procedures.
- Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete, gravel and other aggregates as required.
- Use hand and power tools to perform basic tasks under the direction of tradespeople and site supervisors.
- Clean up work sites, remove rubble and other debris, and maintain a safe, organized work area.
- Assist with setting up and taking down tools, equipment and temporary site structures.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including fall protection and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
- Secondary (high) school completion or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a construction labourer or helper (framing, siding, roofing, concrete or similar).
- Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons, at heights and in rural locations across Alberta.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials, climb, bend and work on your feet all day.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to our yard near Ryley, AB, or willingness to relocate.
Work environment & schedule
- On‑site role based at our yard near Ryley, with daily travel to job sites across rural Alberta.
- Physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing and working at heights.
- Full‑time, permanent position: generally 30–40 hours per week.
- Day shifts (primarily Monday to Friday), with some longer days and overtime during busy construction periods.
Accommodation and daily allowance may be provided when working away from home base, depending on the project.
Compensation
- Pay: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
- Hours: 30–40 hours per week; overtime in accordance with Alberta Employment Standards.
