DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced Grades Personnel for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area. DeFord is a leading contractor in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in municipal road projects, subdivision land development, parking lots, and other key infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:
- Set and verify grades using survey instruments such as lasers, levels, and GPS equipment.
- Interpret construction drawings and site plans to establish proper elevations and slopes.
- Work closely with equipment operators, site supervisors, and survey teams to maintain grade accuracy.
- Monitor and adjust grades during excavation, backfilling, and paving processes.
- Ensure proper drainage and slope requirements are met for various surfaces.
- Communicate effectively with the project team to resolve grading issues.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to company and industry safety standards.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a Grades Person role, preferably in civil construction.
- Proficiency in using grade-checking tools, including lasers, total stations, and GPS equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and survey layouts.
- Understanding of road construction and land development processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment and adapt to changing conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
