The Mission of the South Interlake Regional Library is to enhance our communities through literacy by providing innovative, accessible and dynamic library services and programs.
The Library is currently looking for a part-time Library Clerk for our Stonewall branch. Reporting to the Stonewall Branch Librarian, this role will assist with providing library services and programs to our patrons.
This permanent part-time position will be for shifts as scheduled by the Branch Librarian. Additional hours may occasionally be offered according to the Library’s needs. The successful candidate will be required to work extra paid days for onboarding and training.
Job Responsibilities
· Customer service, including checking library materials in and out, assisting patrons using public computers, reference requests, assisting with inter-library loan requests, etc.
· Collection maintenance, including shelving library materials, and general shelf upkeep.
· Promotion of Library services and programming.
· Administrative assistance, including program prep, overdue lists, photocopying/faxing/scanning, and processing service fees.
· Library upkeep, including minor cleaning and straightening.
· Other duties as assigned by the Stonewall Branch Librarian.
Qualifications
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
· Proficiency in computers and ability to adapt to new technologies.
· Detail oriented, with a demonstrated initiative and flexible attitude.
· Formal library training is an asset.
· Strong problem solving and decision making ability.
· Desire to provide exceptional customer service.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Good mobility and an ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to do repetitive work on a daily basis with a high degree of accuracy.
· A strong desire to serve our community and promote literacy and learning.
· Criminal record/vulnerable sector check and Child abuse registry check will be required.
Working Conditions
Work includes prolonged sitting or standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, crouching, pulling and pushing. Tasks are repetitive and require manual dexterity, clear speech, visual and hearing acuity.
