Position Overview
We're looking for a pet-loving, knowledgeable team member to join our store as a Retail Pet Associate specializing in raw and natural pet food. You'll be the go-to expert for customers seeking advice on raw diets, natural nutrition, and premium pet products. If you're passionate about animal health and love helping pet owners, this is the perfect role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet customers warmly and provide personalized product recommendations
- Educate pet owners on the benefits of raw and natural pet food diets
- Answer questions about ingredients, feeding guidelines, and transitioning to raw food
- Assist customers in selecting the right products for their pets' specific needs (age, breed, dietary restrictions, allergies)
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
- Build lasting relationships with customers and their pets
Product Knowledge & Expertise:
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of raw pet food brands, ingredients, and nutritional benefits
- Understand differences between raw, freeze-dried, dehydrated, and kibble options
- Provide guidance on supplements, treats, and accessories that complement raw diets
- Explain proper handling and storage of raw pet food products
Store Operations:
- Receive, unpack, and stock merchandise including frozen and refrigerated products
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing product displays
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restock needs to management
- Handle frozen/raw food safely according to food safety standards
- Ensure proper rotation of perishable products (FIFO - First In, First Out)
- Assist with online order fulfillment and delivery preparation
- Maintain freezer and refrigeration units
Required Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Genuine passion for pets and animal welfare
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs (pet food bags, cases of product)
- Comfortable working in cold environments (freezer/refrigeration areas)
- Basic math skills for transactions and inventory
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Preferred:
- Previous retail or customer service experience (1+ years)
- Knowledge of raw pet food diets, pet nutrition, or animal care
- Experience with dogs and/or cats
- Point-of-sale (POS) system experience

Part-Time: 24-32 hours per week
