We are excited to be partnering with a new client, a privately held organization with a growing portfolio of complex industrial assets is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership across operations, maintenance, reliability, and capital projects.
This is a hands-on senior role for an engineer who understands how electrical systems perform in operating environments and can bring sound judgment to difficult technical decisions.
You will work closely with internal teams, external engineering firms, contractors, equipment suppliers, and senior leadership to solve problems, reduce risk, improve asset performance, and support long-term investment decisions.
What You Will Do
- Provide senior technical leadership for electrical systems across multiple operating locations.
- Lead complex troubleshooting, failure investigations, technical reviews, and reliability improvements.
- Support equipment lifecycle planning, including condition, degradation, obsolescence, repair, replacement, and capital investment.
- Provide engineering oversight for upgrades, equipment replacements, commissioning, outages, and major modifications.
- Review designs, studies, specifications, vendor recommendations, and third-party engineering work.
- Strengthen engineering standards, documentation, technical governance, and management-of-change practices.
- Provide technical direction to consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, engineers, and operations teams.
- Translate technical issues into clear recommendations for senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Travel regularly to operating locations and project sites.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, or eligibility to register within an agreed period.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience in industrial, utility, infrastructure, manufacturing, generation, or another asset-intensive environment.
- Experience working at a senior, lead, specialist, or principal level.
- Strong experience in several of the following areas:
- Medium- and high-voltage electrical systems
- Substations, transformers, switchgear, and electrical distribution equipment
- Protection and control systems
- SCADA, automation, or monitoring systems
- Asset reliability, troubleshooting, and failure investigation
- Capital projects, commissioning, upgrades, outages, or major maintenance
- Experience overseeing consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, or technical service providers.
- Field experience supporting operating assets, construction, testing, commissioning, or energization.
- Strong technical judgment and the ability to make defensible recommendations when information is incomplete.
- The ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
How You Work
You are practical, curious, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
You raise safety and reliability concerns early and explain your recommendations clearly.
You challenge assumptions constructively and are willing to hold your ground when the technical evidence supports it.
You balance engineering quality with operational realities, cost, schedule, and long-term asset performance.
You follow issues through to resolution and take accountability for the quality of your work.
You share knowledge and help strengthen technical capability across the organization.
Why Consider This Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a growing organization where strong technical judgment will have a visible impact. You will have meaningful influence over engineering decisions, asset reliability, capital planning, and technical standards.
The organization offers:
- A salary range of $165,000 to $185,000
- Hybrid work arrangements, with a mix of in-office in Calgary and in the field
- Excellent benefits
- Professional development opportunities
- A broad and technically complex portfolio
