Chaplain / Spiritual Care Practitioner

Hourly Range - $33.72-$42.15 per hour
We are seeking a qualified individual to provide Spiritual and Religious Care services to the residents at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Sudbury ( St. Joseph's Villa). The Spiritual Care Practitioner is a “spiritual health specialist” who promotes person-centred healthcare by attending to human spirituality as a social determinant of health. As such, the candidate’s spiritual care practice is supported by CASC competencies, including “Connecting with the Body, Engaging with the Mind, Embracing the Emotions and Supporting the Human Spirit.” They are a ‘Minister of Presence’ through caring, supportive listening and prayer while possessing knowledge of human development, including spiritual growth, behaviour and family dynamics. They plan liturgies and worship services for patients, coordinate observances of religious feasts and support multi-faith programming and education. Additional functions include pastoral care at the end of life and support to families and staff dealing with grief and loss. They are also important contributors to SJHC’s Spiritual and Religious Care Community of Practice and serve alongside the Director of Mission to advance St. Joseph’s Mission: “As a Catholic organization, we faithfully continue the healing Mission of Jesus and respond to the needs of the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.”
The ideal candidate will be self-directed, energetic, and creative, able to respond to the diverse spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff.

Our WHAT: Serve as an integral member of an interdisciplinary care team ministering to culturally diverse populations in a Catholic faith-based, publicly funded healthcare context.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate Degree in Theology or related field
- Current registration with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)
- A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent and willing to pursue full CASC certification
- Competent in multi-faith and multicultural ministry
- Fluency in French, musical ability, and experience in healthcare and/or long-term care settings are considered assets
