Our client, one of the leading Aerospace manufacturing organizations, is looking to hire a Quality Inspector to join their growing organization.
This person will support the production of flight-critical and safety-critical components. In this role, you will set up, operate, and control shot peening processes in compliance with aerospace specifications, customer requirements, and strict quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor shot peening and NDT activities to ensure adherence to company quality standards, SAE, AMS, NAS, and customer requirements
- Confirm proper Almen intensity, coverage, and process parameters
- Install, remove, interpret, and document Almen strips while validating saturation curves
- Verify correct media size, type, and cleanliness for shot peening operations
- Support NDT inspections following approved procedures and specifications
- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards including NAS, ASTM, AMS, ISO, and AS9100 requirements
- Inspect components for surface defects, correct masking, and proper fixture setup
- Verify all inspection and testing equipment is calibrated and within required limits
- Accurately complete inspection reports, certifications, and production travelers
- Identify quality issues or nonconformances and assist with corrective action processes
- Perform calibration checks on machinery and inspection equipment
- Follow established safety and quality procedures, including stopping work when necessary
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, measurements, and tolerance calculations
- Ability to successfully complete vision and color perception testing
- Flexibility to work multiple shifts and overtime as required
- Capable of understanding and following written work instructions and technical documents
- Must be able to properly use measuring devices to include:
- Measuring tapes
- Angle finders
- Feeler gauges
- Tachometer
- Stop watches
- General gauge readouts
- Willingness to work overtime on both day and afternoon shifts
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or defense manufacturing environments considered an asset
- Familiarity with industry standards and specifications such as:
- SAE J443, J444, J2277
- AMS 2430 / AMS 2432
- AS9100 / ISO 9001
- NADCAP
- NAS 410
- Previous internal or customer audit experience is an asset
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and remain standing or walking for extended periods
- Comfortable using PPE including eye and respiratory protection
- Strong manual dexterity and visual attention to detail
- Ability to handle small components and precision inspection tools
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and compliance
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of safety-critical manufacturing and inspection processes
