Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd to 3rd-year Welding Apprentice and/or Journeyman to join our manufacturing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced welding skills and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in welding techniques, mechanical knowledge, and safety practices, contributing to high-quality fabrication and assembly projects.
Duties
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials according to blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Read and interpret detailed schematics, blueprints, and welding specifications for fabrication and assembly tasks
- Operate power tools, hand tools, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with rigging, lifting, and positioning heavy components using cranes or forklifts as needed
- Conduct machining operations using calipers, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate dimensions
- Execute assembly tasks involving ductwork, structural components, or machinery parts following specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and proper equipment handling procedures
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects requiring mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills
- Support the setup and operation of manufacturing equipment in compliance with safety standards
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and productivity
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, and general welding techniques
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery operation, assembly processes, and fabrication methods
- Experience with rigging, crane operation, forklift handling, and use of hand tools or power tools
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and material estimations
- Ability to interpret schematics for assembly or manufacturing projects
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on safety compliance in all tasks
- Registered Alberta Apprentice (or eligible to register), or
- Alberta Certified Journeyperson / Interprovincial Red Seal
- Minimum 2 years of shop fabrication experience (required)
- Experience working with abrasion-resistant plate is an asset
- Must be safely /Physically capable of welding in tight and confined spaces, including entering and working inside tanks through small access openings (approximately 17” manways)
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to assess damaged or incomplete components and determine appropriate repair or fabrication methods without reliance on blueprints would be an additional asset

Pay: $23.90-$41.42 per hour
