Job Summary
We are seeking passionate, safety-focused individuals to join our team as Commercial Driving Instructors for Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 driver training programs.
Applicants must hold a valid BC Class 1 driver’s licence and be fully licensed by ICBC as a commercial driving instructor.
As an instructor, you will play an important role in developing confident, competent and safety-conscious drivers who are prepared for success on the road and in the transportation industry. This position may be particularly well suited to an experienced commercial driver looking to transition into a flexible, rewarding semi-retirement role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging driver training for Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 licensing programs, including Code 07 and Code 20 training
- Provide practical instruction in vehicles and in the training yard
- Teach safe driving techniques, vehicle operation, inspection procedures and industry best practices
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student learning and skill development
- Evaluate student progress and readiness for ICBC road tests
- Prepare students for ICBC road tests by teaching the required standards and procedures
- Maintain accurate student records, training logs and assessment forms
- Ensure all instruction complies with ICBC standards, approved curricula and regulatory requirements
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism and mutual respect
- Participate in instructor development and certification activities as required
- Perform basic vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns
- Collaborate with administrative staff and other instructors to support student success
- Be available to work some evenings and weekends
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Class 1 driver’s licence
- Valid ICBC Driving Instructor Licence authorizing commercial driver instruction
- Must be fully licensed by ICBC before beginning employment
- Minimum three years of recent commercial driving training experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations or suspensions
- Experience operating a variety of commercial vehicles, including vehicles with manual transmissions
- Previous teaching, coaching or mentoring experience is an asset
- Familiarity with ICBC road-testing procedures, instructional standards and safety requirements is an asset
- Comfortable working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, calm and professional, including when working under pressure

Pay: $29.00-$30.00 per hour
