Position Overview
The Senior Technologist, Interventional/Angiography/CT (IR/Angio/CT), leads the IR/Angio/CT program at Michael Garron Hospital, with CT being the major/primary modality, including instruction and supervision of staff in those areas, as applicable. They are responsible for ensuring patient care services are delivered with high quality, safety and consistency on a daily basis. This is achieved through continuous monitoring to promote care that is patient centered, timely and efficient. The Senior Technologist enables team members to coordinate and integrate services and encourages ongoing performance improvement.
The incumbent maximizes the use of available resources to facilitate efficient patient throughput and an optimal patient experience. This role will include maintaining and updating policy and procedure manuals pertaining to IR/Angio/CT, training material and continuous quality improvements in the Diagnostic Imaging department.
Furthermore, the Senior Technologist, IR/Angio/CT, under the direction of the Radiologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring minimum supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Will demonstrate independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to perform IR/Angio/CT procedures and scans for diagnosis by the Radiologist, with CT being the major/primary modality.
The Senior Technologist, IR/Angio/CT, performs a combination of frontline and administrative duties, with an approximate split of 60%/40%, with this arrangement to be adjusted as required by the operational need.
Current need is for night shift but subject to change based on operational needs
Education
- MRT with current Certificate of Competence
- Certificate in the Interventional Radiography (or equivalent)
- Satisfactory completion of formal CT training in an approved CAMRT training school or equivalent
- Attendance in recognized courses in cross sectional and vascular anatomy
Experience
- Technologist in the field of IR/Angio/CT for not less than 4 years
- Attendance at recognized courses and conferences in the field of IR/Angio/CT
- Attendance at courses or seminars relating to supervision and interpersonal relations
- Experience or current certification in IV injection of contrast media
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Excellent soft leadership skills: project management, leadership, staff engagement,
conflict resolution, process improvement, staff training and cross-training, support of
incident investigation
- Tactfulness, initiative, supervisory skills, independent judgement
- Quality control in IR/Angio/CT
- Good work and attendance record required
