Minimal Qualifications Required:
· Graduate of a recognized Personal Support Worker program with supporting documentation (or appropriate equivalent acceptable under Ministry Registration)
- Demonstrates focus on resident safety
- Experience working with seniors and/or chronic care residents in a health care facility or community setting, with a genuine interest in and concern for seniors
- Minimal 2 doses for COVID-19 Vaccination
- Effective written and oral communication in English

Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Is aware of the Resident Bill of Rights and endeavors to respect and promote it. Practices resident-centered care.
- Encourages and helps the resident with all activities of daily living and to meet their basic needs, through an understanding of the individual resident’s care plan. Assists in providing information for the forming of the care plan, including communicating the resident’s needs and choices.
- Performs personal care and selected nursing measures to promote comfort and safety for the resident as per plan of care and policies and procedures of the homes.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the resident as a whole person considering cultural, spiritual, psycho-social, and restorative needs as well as an awareness of the activation programs available.
- Observes and reports, significant changes in resident’s physical and emotional conditions to the Registered Staff verbally and in the resident computerized file in a manner which demonstrates respect and maintains privacy and confidentiality for each resident. Documentation includes observations in behaviors, staff interventions and resident response to those interventions. Computer documentation utilizes data entry through the POC and PCC software in a timely manner
- Helps to maintain a safe, clean, odor free environment.
- Recognizes safety hazards and the importance of providing a safe environment. Actively participates in all workplace drills for Codes Yellow, White, Red and Green, etc.
- Directs all inquiries regarding resident’s care and conditions to the Registered staff member.
- Maintains a good attendance record and accepts responsibility for working as scheduled. As a 24/7 operation it is accepted there is shift and weekend work is required.
- Assists in training, guiding, and supporting new staff through the orientation period.
