Purpose:
Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society (Bent Arrow) is a non-profit organization that provides unique programs and services to Edmonton’s urban Indigenous population. The organization was created in 1994 when Brad and Shauna Seneca identified the need for programming for Indigenous children and families based in traditional Indigenous values and teachings. This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary and we have grown as an agency where we have over 250 staff and 23 programs, but our mission remains to “build on the strengths of Aboriginal children, youth, and their families to enable them to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally so they can walk proudly in both the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.”
The Program:
Journey to Success is a Full Time Pre-Employment program that assists indigenous people in securing full time meaningful employment.
The Role:
As an Employer Recruiter you will play a crucial role in assisting participants overcome barriers and secure employment and job placement experience with employers that align with an individual’s goals. A strong background in Sales and Marketing is an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recruit employers that are willing to work with our participants
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers across a variety of industries and occupations
- Create and Maintain employment database i.e. list of all participants and their employment information
- Track job placement outcomes and provide Team Lead with a monthly report outlining these
- Assist participants with accessing resources for employment purposes i.e. funding for work gear, etc.
- Prepare participants for interviews, resume writing support, and employer expectations
- Maintain regular contact with clients who have graduated from the program
- Provide updates to team leader and program staff regarding the students i.e. terminations, withdrawals, starts, completions, etc
- Organize a job fair
- Stay informed on labour market trends
- Any other program related tasks as directed by your Supervisor/Team Lead
Competencies:
Essential:
- Must have own vehicle with a 2-million-dollar liability insurance coverage
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain a driver abstract
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check (within a 6-month period from date of completion).
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Sales and Marketing background, willing to train the right person
- Experience in recruitment, job development and employer relations
- Strong understanding of challenges and barriers participants experience and how to support them in overcoming them
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong career assessment and career planning skills;
- Proficient in computer functions such as database reporting, word processing, Internet and email;
- Knowledge of the Indigenous culture and language is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education:
- Human Services degree or diploma; equivalencies will be considered.
Salary:
- $49,100.00 - $51,555.00 Annually
