Position: Paper Machine Area Supervisor
Location: Kapuskasing
Salary: $110,000 – $120,000 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Paper Machine Area Supervisor to support and lead operations within a large-scale papermill environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, stable, and efficient paper machine performance while supporting production targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to optimise machine performance and support a high-performing production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Mill Superintendent and support overall paper machine operations
- Maintain and improve operational stability across paper machine systems
- Coach, mentor, and support operational employees to maximise performance
- Communicate departmental and mill priorities to teams effectively
- Support compliance with collective agreement and promote positive labour relations
- Optimise production capability through best practices, technology, and continuous improvement
- Support operational planning and shutdown preparation activities
- Identify, prioritise, and coordinate shutdown and maintenance work
- Monitor daily operations and support resolution of production issues
- Ensure consistent product quality through optimal machine performance and parameter adjustments
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues to minimise downtime
- Work closely with maintenance teams on preventative and routine maintenance activities
- Manage production schedules to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets
- Analyse performance data to improve efficiency, yield, and cost control
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5–7 years’ experience in the papermill or pulp & paper industry
- Strong technical understanding of paper machine systems
- Proven leadership, coaching, and team management skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- English language proficiency required; bilingualism is an asset
