The Junior Accounting Coordinator is an entry‑level role ideal for recent graduates from NSCC business programs or undergraduate business, accounting, or finance degrees. This position supports the finance team across accounts payable, basic accounts receivable, KPI reporting, dashboard updates, inventory controls, and month‑end accounting activities. In addition to core accounting functions the coordinator will support the other departments with general administration functions. It offers broad exposure to financial operations and a strong foundation for career growth. Verge is currently in a growth phase, with individuals from all departments collaborating to support the company’s overall success. As the organization evolves, some adjustments to roles can be expected.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices with accurate coding.
- Assist with vendor inquiries and statement reconciliations.
- Support weekly payment runs and AP aging reports.
Accounts Receivable
- Assist with customer invoicing and timely delivery.
- Apply customer payments and maintain updated records.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and support follow‑ups.
- Maintain AR aging schedules.
Reporting & KPIs
- Prepare weekly/monthly KPI reports.
- Update dashboards and ensure data accuracy.
- Flag basic trends or variances to senior staff.
Month-End Support
- Assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Help prepare month‑end working papers and schedules.
- Support timely financial close.
Operational/Sales Reporting
- Gather KPI data.
- Prepare summary reports for leadership.
- Contribute to reporting process improvements.
Inventory Controls
- Help maintain accurate inventory records with operations.
- Support cycle/physical counts and reconcile variances.
- Monitor inventory transactions for accuracy.
- Assist in improving inventory control processes.
General Administrative
- Any and all other duties assigned.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Recent graduate in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related diploma/degree program.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; familiarity with dashboards or BI tools is an asset.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Comfortable learning new systems, processes, and working in fast‑paced environments with tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, willingness to ask questions, and a collaborative mindset.
- Interest in accounting or completion of some accounting courses is an asset.
- Self‑disciplined, motivated, and able to handle repetitive tasks with accuracy.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work overtime as required
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check
