Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled General Contractor to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of construction processes, strong leadership abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of building codes and safety regulations. This role requires a proactive approach to project management, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring quality standards are met throughout all phases of construction. The General Contractor will be responsible for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and executing construction projects efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of construction projects, including planning, execution, and completion
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure project specifications are met
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate various trades such as carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and concrete finishing
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and building codes on-site
- Estimate project costs and develop detailed construction estimates
- Supervise the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and other construction machinery
- Perform or oversee tasks such as concrete forming, tile laying, flooring installation, cabinet installation, restoration work, caulking, painting, welding, and electrical work as needed
- Monitor project timelines and budgets to ensure timely completion within scope
- Maintain quality control standards throughout the project lifecycle
- Communicate regularly with clients, architects, suppliers, and team members to coordinate activities
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and schematics interpretation
- Extensive experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and specialized trades such as masonry or electrical work
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating and project budgeting
- Skilled in carpentry techniques including framing and cabinet installation
- Experience with concrete forming and finishing processes
- Ability to read technical drawings related to plumbing, electrical systems, or restoration projects
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques and flooring/tile installation
- Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce safety standards on-site
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective communication skills for coordinating teams and liaising with clients or stakeholders
