Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that our food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet or exceed our company’s high standards
- Wrap and package prepared meats
- Assist with preparing orders for special cuts, as per customer requests
- Courteously answer all customer inquiries regarding different cuts, serving sizes etc
- Stocking displays to ensure adequate product levels in the department
- Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated
- Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
- Keep department continually clean, organized and free of safety hazards
- Follow all workplace and food safety policies and practices to ensure a safe work environment
- Present a neat, fresh, and well-merchandised department
Skills and Qualifications:
- Food Safe ticket an asset
- Knowledge of Meat department operations and skills an asset
- Positive attitude and superb customer service skills
- Previous retail or customer service experience in a grocery setting an asset
- Commitment to health and safety in the workplace, with the ability to work in a safe and responsible manner at all times
- Must be self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently or in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
- Can juggle multiple tasks, manage your time well, and work well under pressure
- Able to take direction, adhere to established company policies and follow through with assigned tasks
- Willingness and availability to work a variety of shifts, including: Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Weekends & Holidays
- Demonstrated high level of communication, interpersonal & conflict resolution skills
- Excellent command of the English language (both verbal and written)
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand and perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
- Physical ability to stand, lift and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Job requires manual dexterity; attention to detail; hand-eye co-ordination;
- Standing for extended periods and bending, crouching, kneeling at times
- Cold environment, noisy, with some strong odours
