Summary:
The Junior Accountant will work under the direction of the Assistant Controller to provide support for the organization’s Finance department. The incumbent’s primary duties and responsibilities include, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, tracking bank activity, preparation and filing statutory reporting, and posting journal entries. This is a temporary-to-full time opportunity.
Job Duties:
- Performing reconciliations, posting accounts payable and receivable transactions, issuing accounts receivable invoices and credit memos, applying customer payments, and issuing payments to vendors through the organization’s accounting software
- Provide support in financial analysis as well as accounts payable and receivable
- Communicate with customers and vendors to resolve discrepancies
- Recording bank postings and reconciling with the general ledger
- Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly statutory remittances
- Reviewing bi-weekly payroll register for accuracy
- Posting bi-weekly payroll
- Supporting in month end/fiscal year end audits
- All other duties as may be assigned
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in finance, accounting, statistics, economics, commerce, business or related field
- Enrollment in professional course study leading to CPA designation is preferred
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Junior Accountant in similar role
- Practical understanding and knowledge of GAAP/ASPE
- Proven ability to work well independently in a team-based environment

- Great technical accounting skills
- Very high attention to detail and accuracy
- Superior physical and digital filing skills and computer literate
- Strong Microsoft office skills, particularly in Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
- Willingness to work in a time-sensitive working environment to meet deadlines.
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
