Nori Japanese Restaurant is looking for a reliable, motivated, and team-oriented Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in food quality and consistency, and is looking to grow their culinary skills within one of Vancouver Island's busiest independent restaurant groups.
As a member of our kitchen team, you will play a key role in food preparation, station organization, and delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Position Details
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Compensation: $19.00-$24.00 per hour + tips (based on experience)
Responsibilities
- Set up and stock workstations with all necessary ingredients, supplies, and equipment
- Follow daily prep lists and complete assigned preparation tasks efficiently
- Prepare ingredients for service, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, preparing sauces, and other food preparation duties
- Label, date, rotate, and properly store ingredients according to food safety standards
- Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes and specifications
- Cook menu items consistently and efficiently during service while working closely with the kitchen team
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
- Support kitchen cleaning and closing duties as required
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy service periods
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Food Safe certification is an asset
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
