Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the incumbent will effectively and efficiently operate and maintain the Chiller and Ammonia Plant and refrigeration equipment, Air Handling Units, Air Compressors, Steam Plant, and all associated equipment; and support other general factory maintenance. The mechanic is part of the Sterling Road team accountable for achieving the business priority “To Provide Reliable Supply to Business”, through Nestle Continuous Excellence and our Operational Master Plan. This is a unionized position in IUOE Local 772 for the night shift (11pm – 7am) but will require flexibility in terms of work schedule in order to ensure service to internal customers. The position will be based out of our Sterling location at 72 Sterling Road, Toronto, Ontario, M6R 2B6.
Major Responsibilities:

Support plant production operations by operating and maintaining industrial service equipment to meet process standards.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and production operators for problem solving and breakdown analysis.
-
Effectively understand, operate and maintain all refrigeration equipment in the factory including Ammonia & Chiller plants, air handling units, air compressors, steam plant and all related equipment to Nestle and government standards and regulations.
- Provide and maintain accurate documentation of all Industrial Services equipment in the factory
-
Maintain a high degree of understanding and competency on related Standard Operating Procedures.

Interpret, troubleshoot and operate the required computer systems providing accurate and timely information to efficiently operate all industrial services equipment.

Support and/or back-up other HVAC mechanics as needed with factory operations.
-
Pro-actively work with internal and external service departments on repairs to equipment and facility and aiding as needed.

Executing preventive maintenance work orders as assigned and on time.
-
Adhere to and enforce Health & Safety OHSAS 18001, Environmental ISO14001, and Quality FSSC 22000/NQMS programs.

Perform housekeeping duties ensuring equipment and surrounding areas are orderly (5S), clean and satisfy Nestle Quality Standards.

Monthly reading of gas, water, and electricity meters.
-
Actively participate in Continuous Improvements and the Nestle Continuous Excellence process.

Perform duties in accordance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirement
Qualifications:
-
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Operating Engineer, preferably Third Class
-
Valid Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention Card
-
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic

Minimum Grade 12 and competency in basic mathematics with ability to prepare reports and determine departmental efficiencies including working with fractions and percentages.

Analytical, literacy and comprehension skills to interpret and understand, analyze and troubleshoot operating specifications, technical procedure manuals, and safety regulations.
-
Excellent mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
-
A team player with excellent attendance and interpersonal skills!
