SKILLED SITE SUPPORT
The Skilled Site Support on the Hibco team is responsible for assisting the construction team across residential, commercial, modular, and/or restoration projects in various capacities. This includes site preparation, material handling, tool maintenance, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. The individual will collaborate closely with the project manager, site supervisor, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on time, efficiently, and safely. This position reports to the Field Manager.
The Skilled Site Support must be reliable, safety-conscious, and physically capable of performing a variety of tasks on the construction site. They should have a strong commitment to teamwork, efficiency, and maintaining a clean, organized, and productive work environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in preparing job sites for residential, commercial, modular, and restoration projects, including setting up equipment, ensuring tools and materials are readily available, and organizing work areas.
- Safely unload, move, and store building materials on-site, ensuring proper storage and protection from weather damage.
- Provide general labour support to carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled trades by gathering tools, assisting with installations, and performing various manual tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, including removing debris, sweeping, and ensuring proper disposal of all waste.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order for safe use.
- Follow all company safety policies and protocols, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and your teammates. Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to the Site Superintendent.
- Assist in transporting tools and equipment between different sections of the job site or across multiple job sites as needed.
- Perform a variety of physical tasks, including digging, lifting, carrying, and moving heavy materials, assisting with site setup, and other duties as required.
- Supporting with a variety of tasks and needs as they arise to ensure we are successful in all aspects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in construction or site support roles, with prior experience in residential, commercial, modular, or restoration construction considered a plus.
- CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 certifications are required.
- Additional safety certifications such as First Aid, Fall Protection, or others are considered an asset.
- Ability to lift heavy materials, equipment and perform physical labor, including bending, climbing, and working in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to safely operate basic construction tools and equipment. Basic understanding of construction processes and material handling.
- General hand and power tools required, specialty tools provided by Hibco.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in the use and maintenance of construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to assist with troubleshooting minor issues on site and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Commitment to following and enforcing safety regulations and best practices on the job site.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of trades and project staff to ensure smooth operations.
Work Conditions:
- Primarily work on residential, commercial, modular, and/or restoration construction job sites, handling tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
- Physical labor is required, including heavy lifting, bending, and working in various environments.
- Irregular hours and occasional overtime may be required based on project deadlines.
- Travel between job sites may be necessary.
Work Type: Full Time, Permanent, in Field
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, depending on project
Travel: Primarily in Edmonton and area, occasional out of town day/week trips. Out of town work available. 21/7, 10/3 rotations.
Salary: Starting $20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Vacation: 6% of vacation pay paid out on each paycheque
