Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Drywall Finisher/Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for finishing drywall surfaces, applying tape and joint compound, and ensuring a smooth, professional finish on interior walls and ceilings. This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment. Experience in related trades such as carpentry, painting, or handyman work is highly valued. The Drywall Finisher/Taper plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality results on commercial and residential projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams, corners, and joints to create a seamless surface
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces for painting or further finishing
- Read blueprints and project specifications to determine the scope of work
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete taping and finishing tasks
- Repair or replace damaged drywall sections as needed
- Coordinate with other trades such as carpentry, painting, or caulking teams to ensure project continuity
- Maintain a clean work area and adhere to safety protocols at all times
- Assist with other related tasks such as caulking or minor carpentry repairs when necessary
Skills
- Proven experience in drywall finishing, taping, or related construction trades
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and construction drawings
- Skilled in using hand tools, taping knives, sanding tools, and power equipment
- Construction experience including carpentry, painting, or handyman skills is preferred
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship
- Good physical stamina for standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and working at heights if required
- Knowledge of safety procedures relevant to construction sites
