Are you energetic, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? We're a busy neighbourhood pub looking for a reliable Prep Cook / Expo to join our kitchen team. You'll play a key role in keeping service running smoothly by managing the food pass, assisting with plating, preparing takeout orders, and supporting the kitchen during busy shifts.
As the connection between the kitchen and front-of-house team, you'll help ensure every meal leaves the kitchen looking great and every guest receives the correct order. If you enjoy working in a high-energy environment and take pride in attention to detail, we'd love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Food Pass: Coordinate the flow of food from the kitchen to servers, ensuring orders are complete, accurate, and sent out promptly.
- Plating Assistance: Assist chefs with final plating, garnishes, and presentation to maintain consistent quality.
- Takeout & Delivery Orders: Package, bag, and label takeout and delivery orders accurately, ensuring all modifications, sauces, condiments, and utensils are included.
- Kitchen Support: Assist with light food prep, maintain a clean and organized workstation, and restock ingredients and supplies throughout service.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience as an expo, prep cook, food runner, kitchen helper, or in a similar restaurant role is preferred but not required.
- Fast-Paced Environment: Comfortable working efficiently during busy lunch, dinner, and weekend rushes.
- Attention to Detail: Able to accurately assemble orders, follow modifications, and maintain presentation standards under pressure.
- Availability: Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is preferred.
- Team Player: Positive attitude, dependable, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm during peak service.
