Department: Diabetes Education Centre
The Diabetes Education Centre provides assessment, education, and ongoing support to individuals living with diabetes and their families through a multidisciplinary outpatient program. As the Centre's Registered Dietitian, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of Registered Nurses and a Registered Social Worker to deliver individualized nutrition counselling, diabetes self-management education, and group programming. Serving a diverse patient population, the Centre also offers access to specialized services including diabetes and pregnancy counselling, a provincially designated paediatric diabetes program, and an insulin pump program, making this an exciting opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, in good standing, required
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) designation, or currently working towards certification, required
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience providing education to individuals living with diabetes required
- Excellent interpersonal skills required
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills required
- Willingness to travel; valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Internet applications required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (obtained within the last twelve months)
- Eligibility for membership with Dietitians of Canada an asset
- Membership in the Educator Section of the Canadian Diabetes Association an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills required
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring the safety of self, fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors required
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and the prevention of adverse health events within the organization
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
