Summary
The Technology Services Specialist is a dual-function role responsible for providing high-level technical support and ensuring organizational adherence to global IT security standards. This position serves as the primary on-site technical resource for maintaining IT infrastructure and business applications while spearheading compliance efforts related to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), data privacy laws, and enterprise security policies. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between technical operations and regulatory requirements to ensure a secure and efficient business environment.
Key responsibilities
1. Technical Support & Infrastructure Management
- On-Site Support: Provide comprehensive on-site technical assistance to ensure the stability and consistency of IT infrastructure and device configurations.
- Tier 1 Troubleshooting: Act as the first point of contact for resolving security, network, and application-level hardware/software issues.
- Incident Management: Monitor and analyze system alerts; manage the end-to-end incident lifecycle, including root cause analysis, resolution, and stakeholder communication.
- Vendor Liaison: Collaborate with hardware vendors and service providers to resolve persistent system issues and execute infrastructure improvements.
2. PCI Compliance & Security Governance
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure the system configurations, data handling processes comply with PCI DSS, data privacy laws, and corporate IT security mandates.
- Risk Assessment: Work with vendor to identify vulnerabilities and PCI compliance risks; develop and execute remediation plans.
- Policy Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of enterprise information security policies, technical standards, and operational guidelines.
- Reporting: Manage the security incident reporting process and maintain detailed records for audit purposes, ensuring all documentation reflects current laws and regulations.
3. Business Application & Integration Support
- Application Lifecycle: Assist the successful delivery and operation of business applications, including requirements gathering, configuration, and high-level architecture review.
- System Integration: Support 3rd-party application integrations and manage critical updates, such as rate changes and system-wide configuration deployments.
- Optimization: Evaluate application performance and recommend technical enhancements to align with evolving application requirements.
- Project Support: Provide technical support for new project deliveries to ensure they meet corporate security standards and functional requirements.
4. Documentation, Training & Communication
- Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain a centralized support knowledge base, including technical manuals, process workflows.
- User Education: Conduct training sessions for staff regarding security best practices, and new application features.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate the hardware implications of technical issues to non-technical users.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hardware Knowledge: Ability to identify, install, and troubleshoot components (RAM, Hard Drives/SSDs, Motherboards, Power Supplies).
- Peripheral Support: Experience setting up and fixing printers, scanners, docking stations, and external monitors.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows 10/11.
- Networking Fundamentals - Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing.
- Configuring basic Wi-Fi routers and access points.
- Software Tools: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 systems and apps, remote desktop tools (LogMeIn) and ticketing systems (Zendesk).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record.
- Criminal record check required.
- Flexible and weekend shifts will be required

Pay: $52,000.00-$55,000.00 per year

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
