Job Role
1. Landscape Construction
- Supervise and lead crew members during landscape construction projects, ensuring that all tasks are performed eff iciently and accurately.
- Plan daily work activities in collaboration with the landscape crew leader, assigning specifi c duties to crew members based on skills and project needs.
- Ensure materials such as soil, gravel, plants, and equipment are properly loaded, unloaded, and used on the job site.
- Coordinate the installation of hardscapes including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other landscape features, ensuring compliance with design plans and specifi cations.
- Oversee the planting of trees, shrubs, fl owers, and grass, ensuring proper installation techniques and plant health.
- Assist with the operation of machinery and tools, ensuring safe use and proper maintenance of equipment.
- Assist in sett ing up transit, zip level, grades, and layout for accurate site work.
- Review and understand project plans, scopes, overall goals, and timelines.
- Be fully involved in project planning by understanding scopes, next steps, logistics, and always thinking one step ahead.
2. Project Execution and Quality Control
- Monitor the progress of landscape construction tasks, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
- Perform quality checks on installations, addressing any issues or defects as they arise to maintain high-quality standards.
- Take ownership and responsibility for specifi c areas or tasks on the project, ensuring laborers work under or alongside you for completion.
- Ensure high production quality and completion of tasks, stepping in for the foreman during partial or full-day absences.
- Conduct a complete initial project startup walk with the foreman and project or operations manager.
- Complete startup photos and upload them to Company Cam, as well as assist with milestone and daily photo uploads.
- Understand material types, quality, tolerances, and how to successfully source and inspect materials from suppliers.
3. Equipment and Site Organization
- Complete circle checks on the crew dump truck to ensure safety and compliance.
- Ensure machines and equipment are greased, cleaned, and in proper working order at regular intervals.
- Keep the crew truck and toolbox clean, operational, and fully stocked with daily-use inventory, reporting any issues or needs to the foreman.
- Take initiative and ownership of crew tools, report damages, and ensure the truck is properly loaded with necessary tools and materials for the next day.
- Plan, prep, and execute nightly unload/pre-load and morning rollout with minimal direction from the foreman.
4. Project Startup and Leadership
- Be responsible for planning and production, ensuring the quality and completion of tasks during the foreman’s absence.
- Assist in planning and reviewing project logistics, next steps, and work sequencing.
- Ensure all crew members understand their roles and the sequence of work.
- Encourage initiative among team members and foster a proactive work environment.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Enforce all safety protocols on the job site, ensuring that crew members adhere to safety regulations and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular safety checks and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or safety concerns to management immediately and take action to prevent further incidents.
6. Communication and Leadership
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to crew members, ensuring that they understand their tasks and responsibilities.
- Communicate with the landscape crew leader and other team members about project progress, challenges, and any changes to the work plan.
- Motivate and mentor crew members to enhance performance, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
7. Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, trialing new duties during the season or for specifi c projects.

- Strong knowledge of landscape construction techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape design plans and blueprints.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform and supervise manual labor in various weather conditions.

- Ability to troubleshoot problems on-site and make informed decisions quickly.
