Objective:
Cantiro is hiring for a Site Assistant, Multi-Family. Working under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Site Assistant supports completing our projects on time, on budget and without any deficiencies. You will be using your general carpentry and other skills to help complete construction tasks.
The Site Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support Superintendent by assisting in directing / controlling trades for safety, schedule and quality requirements and to the standards required by Cantiro’s Superintendent
- Prepare suites and common areas for possession dates
- Maintain site cleanliness, including sweeps at pre-determined construction stages, and ensure area is ready for next trade
- Complete minor finishing work
- Install locks and signage
- Basic adjustments including doors, cabinets, etc
- Minor paint touch ups, apply silicone
- Intake, direct and move building material around and out of job site
- Basic drywall and taping / patch repair
- Review windows, siding, finishes on an ongoing basis and support the Superintendent with QC and QA programs, including records, check sheets and supporting photos
- Conduct Orientations, complete FLRA’s and report any safety issues immediately
- Assist superintendent with any other required tasks
- General site maintenance, fencing, machines, trailer
- Supervise temporary workers
- Seasonal maintenance, e.g. snow removal when required
- Inform Superintendent where remedial action is required of a trade to correct identified deficiencies in scope
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in residential construction/renovation
- General knowledge of Alberta Building Code
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Clean driver’s abstract
Other Skills/Requirements:
- A reliable vehicle is required (vehicle allowance provided)
- Personal hand tools that include basic cordless tools
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Self-motivated, team-player, organized and proactive
- Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to effectively solve problems
- Work with minimal supervision
