About the Role
The People and Culture Administrator is a volunteer role that sits at the heart of how EmpowHERto takes care of its people. You will support both our Canadian operations, helping to ensure that our staff, volunteers, and contractors have a consistent, organized, and people-first experience from the moment they join us to the moment they transition out.
This role is equal parts HR administration and culture building. You are not just processing paperwork. You are helping shape what it feels like to be part of this organization.
What You Will Do
HR and Payroll Administration
- Maintain accurate personnel records for staff and volunteers across both the US (Fort Lauderdale) and Canadian (Toronto) entities
- Support onboarding processes including offer letters, employment agreements, and new hire documentation
- Assist with payroll administration including tracking hours, coordinating with the finance team, and ensuring compliance with applicable labor standards in Ontario
- Support offboarding processes including exit documentation and final pay coordination
- Maintain and update HR policies and templates to ensure they remain compliant with Ontario employment law
- Assist with Canada Summer Jobs placements and related documentation
Culture and Team Engagement
- Support the execution of team engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal communications
- Help coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and appreciation efforts
- Assist in planning internal team moments, check-ins, and culture-building activities
- Contribute to building a workplace where our staff and volunteers feel seen, valued, and set up to do their best work
- Support our People and Culture lead, on special projects and organizational initiatives
What We Are Looking For
- Background or coursework in human resources, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field
- Familiarity with employment standards in Ontario is a strong asset
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with confidential information
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience with tools like Monday.com, Google Workspace, or Slack is a plus
- Genuine passion for EmpowHERto's mission and the communities we serve
- Ability to work independently and across time zones
Time Commitment
Approximately 10 hours per week. Flexible schedule with remote work. Some availability during business hours in Eastern Time is helpful for coordination purposes.
