Position: Part-time Cleaning and Laundry Attendant
Primary location: St. Eugene’s Parish rectory – 232 Queenston Rd., Hamilton, Ontario
Commitment: Maximum of 7 hours per week (1 day per week). Flexibility to work varying days and/or hours based on business needs is required.
Compensation: Hourly pay rate in accordance with Diocese of Hamilton policies.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Pastor, the Cleaning and Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, organized, and welcoming rectory environment for the priest residing in the rectory and/or his guests. Responsibilities include general housekeeping, laundry care, and maintaining appropriate supplies. Discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
- Perform routine cleaning of the rectory, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining areas, offices, hallways, and common living spaces.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, furniture, fixtures, and frequently touched surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchen areas to maintain high standards of hygiene.
- Launder, dry, fold, iron, and organize clothing, towels, bedding, and other household linens as required.
- Change bed linens and make beds as scheduled or requested.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning and household supplies, advising the Business Manager when supplies need to be replenished.
- Properly care for cleaning equipment and report any maintenance concerns or repair needs.
- Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with local regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment while following appropriate health and safety practices.
- Assist with seasonal or occasional deep-cleaning tasks as required.
- Other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in residential, hospitality, institutional, or commercial housekeeping is preferred.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, products, and safe handling procedures.
- Experience operating standard laundry equipment and caring for a variety of fabrics.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and respect the privacy of the household.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as the location is not accessible by transit.
- Professional demeanor and a respectful, service-oriented approach.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours based on the needs of the priests.
- Professional representative of the Diocese of Hamilton at all times, with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of Hamilton.
