Why This Role Is Important
Fanshawe College is seeking a qualified meat-cutting professional to teach in the School of Hospitality & Creative Industries. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge from the industry to inspire and educate students in practical meat-cutting and further processing techniques. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction and ensuring students are well-prepared for meat processing and butchery careers.
Reporting to Program Manager, a part-time professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses, and successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Provide instruction in meat cutting and processing, focusing on both retail and industrial practices.
- Develop and implement formulas and procedures to support the processing of various meat products.
- Design and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to an adult learning environment.
- Support students’ learning by offering practical demonstrations and providing feedback on their techniques.
- Participate in the ongoing development of curriculum and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to support in-class learning and student engagement.
- Use strong computer and organizational skills to track student progress, maintain accurate records, and manage class materials through the LMS.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of extensive meat cutting experience on multiple species (Beef, Pork, Lamb, Veal and Poultry).
- Significant practical experience in both industrial and retail meat cutting.
- Expertise in meat processing, including the development of cured, smoked, and sausage products is an asset.
- Proven teaching experience in an adult education setting.
- Strong ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Proficient in using computers and technology to enhance learning and manage administrative tasks.
- Well-developed communication skills and a capacity for collaboration.
- Demonstrated innovation and creative thinking in solving problems and improving processes.
- Strong commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
- Passion for continuous learning and professional development.
