PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Project Manager - Airfield Civil & Electrical (AEC) will oversee design, construction and technical coordination across the AEC Sub-Program, ensuring the seamless integration of design and construction activities in a live airport environment. This role bridges engineering and field execution, providing leadership in design management, constructability reviews, stakeholder engagement, subcontractor management and delivery readiness to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design management of all Airfield Civil & Electrical (AEC) scope elements, including runways, taxiways, lighting, and associated utilities.
- Oversee the integration of design and construction sequencing, ensuring buildability and minimal operational impact to airport activities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams (civil, electrical, structural, utilities) and external consultants to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Co-Manage stakeholder engagement with GTAA, Nav Canada, Transport Canada, and airlines to ensure alignment with operational and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical direction and review of airfield electrical systems including ALCMS, Field Electrical Centres (FECs), and distribution networks.
- Lead constructability and interface reviews, identifying opportunities for optimization, risk reduction, and value engineering.
- Support development of design packages and technical specifications for procurement and construction.
- Oversee design progress tracking, schedule integration, and coordination with project controls.
- Manage design-related risks, issues, and change processes in alignment with PACT’s governance framework.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout design and construction phases.
- Facilitate design workshops, progress meetings, and coordination reviews with construction leads and subcontractors.
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings, and submissions, ensuring completeness and adherence to design intent.
- Coordinate with cost planning and estimating to validate design quantities and scope alignment.
- Track KPI’s.
- Cost tracking and Invoice review and approval.
- Monitor consultant performance and ensure timely delivery of design milestones.
- Promote collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing across the AEC Sub-Program team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our office or site office in Mississauga, Ontario, with frequent visits to the Airport site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or site hours. At times, operational needs may require work outside these hours, with reasonable notice provided. All schedule or on‑call adjustments will comply with applicable employment standards legislation. It is mandatory for all employees to complete a Criminal Background check and successfully attain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) upon joining the company.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
- Eng. and PMP designations are preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in design and construction management of major airfield or civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of airfield electrical systems, lighting control, civil pavement design, and infrastructure interfaces.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams in live operational airport environments.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder groups including GTAA, Nav Canada, and regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrated experience in Progressive Design-Build or Design-Build project delivery models.
- Strong commercial and technical acumen with the ability to evaluate design decisions against schedule and cost impacts.
- Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills across technical and field teams.
- Proficiency with design management tools, digital collaboration platforms, and document control systems.
- Commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement within a multidisciplinary program environment.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for RAIC clearance and AVOP required.
