Job Title: Security Guard - Plain Clothes Loss Prevention

Job Summary: We are seeking observant and professional Plain Clothes Loss Prevention Security Guard to join our team in Woodstock. This position plays a critical role in preventing theft, reducing shrinkage, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for shoppers and staff. Ideal candidates will live in Woodstock or within a 30-minute commute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct covert surveillance and undercover patrols of the retail premises to proactively identify shoplifting, fraud, and other suspicious behavior.
- Apprehend individuals engaged in theft, following legal and company protocols with discretion and professionalism.
- Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to manage apprehensions safely, minimizing disruption to store operations.
- Maintain an unobtrusive presence to blend in with shoppers while remaining vigilant.
- Prepare accurate and detailed reports for all incidents, including evidence collection, statements, and recommendations for improving loss prevention efforts.
- Work collaboratively with store management and other security personnel to identify trends, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
- Stay current on relevant legal guidelines, including use of force, citizen’s arrest, and lawful detention procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in loss prevention, asset protection, or undercover security roles within a retail setting.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
- Training in lawful detention, handcuff use, and understanding of the Criminal Code relating to theft and trespassing.
- Exceptional observation and situational awareness skills.
- Physically fit and able to respond rapidly to incidents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and professional engagement.
- Ability to remain calm and assertive under pressure.
- Discreet, professional demeanor and ability to work effectively alone or within a team.
Preferred Location: Candidates should be based in Woodstock, Ontario, or be able to commute to the location within 30 minutes.
