About Us
Buzz Lawn Care is a Calgary-based, family-owned lawn care and snow removal company. We run a small, tight-knit crew and take pride in doing good work for our clients across the city. As we head into midsummer, we're looking to add a full-time team member who can help us finish out the lawn season strong and then carry that momentum into winter snow removal. We are hiring for mid-late August and carrying into next season and beyond.
The Role
This is a full-time position that runs through two seasons:
- August–October: You'll join our lawn maintenance crew — mowing, trimming, edging, and fall cleanup across our residential and commercial routes.
- Winter: The role shifts into snow removal — plowing, shoveling, and salting driveways, walkways, and lots, including on-call work during storm events.
What You'll Do
Fall / Lawn Season
- Mow, trim, and edge lawns on residential and commercial properties
- Fall cleanup: leaf removal, debris clearing, general yard tidy-up
- Operate and do basic upkeep on mowers, trimmers, and blowers
- Represent Buzz professionally on-site — you're often the face the client sees
- Flag any lawn issues (weeds, pests, damage) to the office so our licensed techs can follow up
Winter / Snow Season
- Plow, shovel, and salt driveways, walkways, and parking areas
- Be available for early-morning and on-call shifts during and after snowfalls
- Keep equipment (plows, blowers, spreaders) in good working order and report issues
- Maintain the same professional, reliable presence with clients through the winter
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract
- Physically able to handle outdoor labor in all weather — heat, cold, snow, the works
- Reliable and punctual — this is a route-based job where the whole crew depends on each person showing up
- Comfortable working early mornings and flexible hours during winter storm events
- Reliable transportation to get to the company truck each morning
- Works well independently and as part of a small crew
Nice to have (not required):
- Prior experience in lawn care, landscaping, or snow removal
- Comfort operating small equipment (mowers, snow blowers, etc.) — we'll train
- Basic small-engine or equipment maintenance knowledge
- Pesticide application experience/licensing
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $18–22/hour, based on experience
- Hours: Full-time, approx. 40 hrs/week during fall season
- Winter Hours: With the unpredictability of our winters, we offer a retainer + hourly structure for snow removal. Winter hours are weather-dependent and may include early mornings, evenings, or on-call shifts
