Job description:
Holiday Inn Victoria - Elk Lake is currently seeking a dependable and proactive Maintenance/ House person to join our team. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our hotel, ensuring all facilities are in top condition and that guests receive prompt, courteous service. The position includes houseman duties and requires a team-oriented individual with a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
· Identify, respond to, and follow up on maintenance issues throughout the property.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to a set schedule and company guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service by responding to guest requests efficiently and professionally.
- Support and contribute to a positive team environment and uphold the core values of Holiday Inn .
Essential Duties
· Maintain all guest rooms and public spaces to ensure they are clean, safe, and functioning properly.
- Conduct routine maintenance including painting, minor plumbing, drywall repairs, and door lock maintenance.
- Perform daily inspections to detect minor deficiencies and resolve them; report more complex issues to the Maintenance Department.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the pool area; willingness to complete Pool Certification if not already certified.
- Schedule and complete carpet cleaning in public areas.
- Spot-clean walls, trims, doors, and moldings as needed.
- Manage trash and recycling in line with hotel policies.
Houseman Duties
· Assist the Housekeeping team with delivery of linens, supplies, and amenities to guest rooms and storage areas.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in hallways, stairwells, and service areas.
- Help keep the lobby, entrances, and other public spaces presentable throughout the shift.
- Support housekeeping staff during high occupancy or turnover days when needed.
Qualifications
· Basic maintenance and repair experience required (painting, plumbing, general upkeep).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Friendly, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed.
- Good communication skills and a guest-first mindset.
- Physically able to lift, move, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Pool certification (or willingness to obtain) is required.
