Recreation assistants work as part of a team, under the general direction of the Life Enrichment & Leisure Activities Manager, organizing, supervising and leading a range of leisure, fitness and health activities and assisting in the promotion and development of these activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- provides diligent, safe and professional transportation services for the residents of the Community using either the 16 seat bus or the minivan
- assists Recreation staff while on outings with supervision and aiding of residents
- assists in the maintenance of the vehicles by reporting any concerns to the Life Enrichment & Leisure Activities Manager
- ensures that vehicles’ fuel and fluid levels are maintained
- monitors the use of fitness equipment and activities
- acts as pool attendant or lifeguard
- ensures the safety of users, staff and equipment
- maintains the cleanliness of facilities
- sets up, maintains and dismantles equipment according to the schedule of activities
- reception duties and sales
- welcomes customers, dealing with enquiries, emergencies and accidents requiring first aid
- assists in the organization of sporting or leisure events
- provides advice and supervision for the Community’s activities
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience providing the skill and knowledge for successful performance would qualify.
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a valid Class 4 License issued by the Government of British Columbia
- Must have valid First Aid with CPR & AED
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to verbally communicate with all levels of our community
- Must be physically fit to meet the demands of the position
- Have relevant work experience in a leisure center or similar
- A Criminal record check and driver’s abstract will be required
Pay: $27.87 per hour
