We are seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Specialist to provide technical expertise in the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and reliability of rotating equipment across a variety of industrial environments. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to improve equipment performance, increase reliability, and support safe, efficient operations.
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on technical knowledge with expertise in vibration analysis and machinery diagnostics, using data-driven insights to identify equipment issues before they result in failures. This position plays a key role in supporting field teams, developing repair strategies, and ensuring equipment is repaired and maintained to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and support for the inspection, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and installation of rotating equipment.
- Perform vibration analysis and interpret condition monitoring data to diagnose equipment health and recommend corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment failures and lead root cause investigations to identify failure mechanisms and implement long-term solutions.
- Support field service teams during planned outages, emergency repairs, equipment commissioning, and complex maintenance activities.
- Review equipment performance and maintenance history to identify reliability improvements and recommend preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Develop repair scopes, work instructions, and technical recommendations for equipment overhauls and maintenance projects.
- Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair, replacement, or upgrade solutions to optimize asset performance.
- Ensure repairs meet applicable quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical expertise on pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, fans, blowers, and other rotating equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance planners, project managers, and customers to coordinate repair activities and minimize equipment downtime.
- Assist in identifying critical spare parts and support inventory planning for rotating equipment.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to technicians, tradespeople, apprentices, and less experienced team members.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, inspection reports, equipment history, and vibration analysis records.
- Promote and support a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Vibration analysis training and practical experience are required, with the ability to collect, interpret, and communicate machinery condition monitoring results.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience working with industrial rotating equipment in maintenance, repair, field service, reliability, or condition monitoring roles.
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes, fans, blowers, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex rotating equipment and performing root cause failure investigations.
- Knowledge of preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with reliability methodologies such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), or Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is considered an asset.
- A Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright certification or a degree in Mechanical Engineering is considered an asset but is not required. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required.
