Location: Hybrid in Kingston or Toronto (University Ave)
The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $63,600 - $111,300. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.

What you’ll be working on
Perform internal audits, determining objective and scope and financial control testing that includes assessing the design and operating effectiveness and raise identified issues to management for remediation
Ensure assigned testing is complete in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; according to the schedule using data analytics and automation
Produce high quality documentation on a timely basis for audit management and external auditors
Identify opportunities to improve economy, efficiency and effectiveness of business processes
Collaborate with senior management in the follow-up of open and past due internal audit findings
Act as a second level reviewer and coach/mentor for junior or temporary employees
Facilitate educational and training courses to internal and external audiences
Work on projects and conduct special investigations as required
Develop and maintain productive relationships with Empire Life employees/management and external consultants
Attend and participate in continuing professional education classes and training courses
Ensures compliance with the Global Internal Audit Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
What we’re looking for you to have
Completion of college/university with specialization in audit, financial and managerial accounting or a combination of education and work experience
3+ years of progressive professional experience in internal/external auditing, risk advisory, or public accounting (ideally within the financial services or insurance sector).
Documented track record of participating in the end-to-end audit lifecycle, including scoping, risk assessment, testing design and operational effectiveness, and drafting clear audit findings.
Direct experience utilizing data analytics tools and automated workflows to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets for exception testing and continuous monitoring
Advanced knowledge of internal control techniques, financial control testing (design and operating effectiveness), and core control frameworks
Strong aptitude for contract interpretation, regulatory compliance monitoring, and identifying governance or operational gaps.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications, and basic coding
CPA and/or CIA designation or in progress
Strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to present information clearly to a diverse audience
Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
