Experienced Marine / Automotive Upholsterer We are building a growing custom upholstery business specializing in marine and automotive upholstery and are looking for an experienced upholsterer to join us. Compensation $20–$30/hour, depending on demonstrated experience and ability. Higher compensation and performance incentives are available for candidates capable of independently completing projects from patterning through final installation. Responsibilities - Marine seat and cushion upholstery - Automotive upholstery - Pattern creation and duplication - Removing existing upholstery and using original covers as patterns - Cutting marine vinyl, fabric and other upholstery materials - Industrial machine sewing - Welting/piping - French/top stitching - Working around curves, corners and complex panels - Foam replacement and shaping - Final fitting and installation - Identifying material requirements for projects - Maintaining professional workmanship standards Equipment Work will be completed using professional industrial sewing equipment suitable for upholstery materials. Ideal Candidate We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in: - Marine upholstery - Automotive upholstery - Custom upholstery - Industrial sewing - Boat interiors - Convertible tops/canvas - Furniture upholstery Applicants should be comfortable working independently and producing customer-quality finished work. Experience 3+ years of relevant upholstery experience preferred. Exceptional applicants with less experience will also be considered based on demonstrated ability. Skills Assessment Final candidates may be offered a paid practical skills assessment involving reproduction of an existing marine seat/cushion.
