Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and energetic Campaign Manager / Administrative Assistant to lead the day-to-day operations of a municipal councillor election campaign in the Blenheim/Chatham-Kent area. In this role, you will be the backbone of the campaign—managing the candidate’s calendar, coordinating public outreach, organizing volunteers, and ensuring flawless operational execution. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who excels under pressure, possesses exceptional local communication skills, and is ready to take complete ownership of campaign logistics.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Campaign Operations & Management
- End-to-End Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for the campaign, managing day-to-day operations, timelines, and shifting priorities.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for door-to-door canvassing, literature drops, and community events.
- Compliance Tracking: Assist in tracking campaign materials, budget items, and ensuring alignment with municipal sign by-laws and campaign guidelines.
Executive Administrative Support
- Calendar & Scheduling: Manage the candidate's daily schedule, including booking debates, community meetings, stakeholder interviews, and local event appearances.
- Correspondence Management: Monitor and respond to campaign emails, phone inquiries, and messages from local constituents.
- Information Management: Take detailed notes during meetings, maintain voter lists, and track community feedback and key issues.
Community Engagement & Logistics
- Event Planning: Coordinate the logistics for campaign events, meet-and-greets, and fundraisers within the Blenheim area.
- Material Distribution: Oversee the inventory, assembly, and deployment of campaign assets (flyers, lawn signs, and promotional materials).
- Public Relations Support: Assist in drafting basic community updates, newsletters, or coordinating social media postings to keep constituents informed.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- Location: Must reside in or be highly familiar with the Blenheim / Chatham-Kent area to facilitate local travel and community interaction.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in an Administrative Assistant, Project Coordinator, Office Manager, or Event Management role (prior political or non-profit campaign experience is a major asset but not mandatory).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English communication skills; comfortable speaking with community members and local business owners.
- Technical Proficiency: Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Workspace, and basic social media platforms.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as dictated by peak campaign schedules and local community events.
- Assets: A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
