Signing and Retention Bonus

Position Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides person-centered care to residents, promoting comfort, safety, and quality of life at Finlandia Nursing Home/Finlandia Village. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the RPN demonstrates clinical competency, makes appropriate care decisions, and supervises Health Care Aides/Personal Support Workers. The RPN ensures care aligns with Finlandia Village’s vision, mission, and performance standards, as well as federal and provincial regulations and accreditation requirements. Teaching and staff empowerment are key aspects of this role.
Some Key Responsibilities
- Ensure quality nursing care through supervision, in-service education, and adherence to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)/Risk Management programs
- Serve as a clinical resource for the healthcare team
- Develop and implement resident care plans with established interventions
- Ensure resident care plans and documentation accurately reflect provided care and are individualized
- Communicate with residents, the RN, and relevant parties to confirm needs and concerns
- Collect and document resident physical, spiritual, social, and emotional information
- Contribute to and communicate individual care plans with the healthcare team
- Safely perform strategies and interventions outlined in care plans
- Assist residents in achieving or maintaining optimal functioning
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care and contribute to care plan updates
Qualifications
- Completion of a Post-Secondary Nursing Program
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- CPR Certificate
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) – asset
- Conflict management skills – asset
- PIECES training – asset
- Finnish language skills – asset
- Acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check (within past six months)
- 2-step TB test (within past six months)
