Position Overview
The Kingston Youth Arts & Culture Centre (KYACC) is seeking a passionate, creative, and community-minded Events & Programming Coordinator to support the development and day-to-day operations of a new youth-focused arts and cultural space in Kingston.
Reporting to the KYACC Supervisor, the Events & Programming Coordinator will play a central role in coordinating community events, managing space bookings, supporting youth-centered programming, and helping build meaningful community engagement opportunities connected to the Kingston Youth Services Hub (KYSH).
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and engaging spaces for youth experiencing homelessness and other barriers.
Evening and weekend work will be required based on event schedules and special programming needs.
Key Responsibilities
Event Coordination & Space Management
- Coordinate bookings and scheduling for the KYACC event and community space
- Support the planning and execution of community events, performances, workshops, fundraisers, and special events
- Act as a point of contact for artists, community groups, facilitators, renters, and event partners
- Assist with event logistics including scheduling, setup coordination, hospitality, and operational support
- Provide on-site support during evening and weekend events as required
- Participate in occasional on-call support related to events and programming needs outside regular working hours
Youth Programming & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with the Youth Services Management Team to develop engaging, trauma-informed, and inclusive programming for youth
- Support arts, wellness, recreational, cultural, and community-building programming for youth experiencing homelessness and other barriers
- Create opportunities for positive community engagement within the space
- Help coordinate public-facing initiatives that connect youth, artists, volunteers, and the broader Kingston community
- Encourage youth participation and youth voice within programming and events
Communications & Promotion
- Manage KYACC social media platforms and assist with promoting events, programming, and initiatives
- Create promotional materials, social media content, and community outreach communications
- Assist in increasing public awareness and engagement with KYACC programming and events
Administrative Support
- Maintain event schedules, booking calendars, and program records
- Assist with tracking participation and supporting reporting requirements
- Participate in team meetings, collaborative planning, and ongoing development of the space
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in event planning, event coordination, arts administration, recreation, communications, community development, social services, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated experience working with at-risk, vulnerable, or marginalized youth is required
- Experience coordinating events, programming, or community initiatives
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Working knowledge of full-scale audio/visual systems, event production equipment, and live event operations
- Ability to troubleshoot basic AV and technical issues during live events
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with social media management and promotional content creation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, based on operational and event needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and youth-centered approaches is considered a strong asset
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $56,133.00-$68,917.00 per year
