Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Home Care Workers to provide support to individuals in their homes, or in a care facility. This role is vital in assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, senior care, or nursing home environments, and possess a genuine desire to make a positive impact on clients' lives. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with diverse populations, including those with disabilities, dementia, or requiring hospice care. A strong commitment to caregiving and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as personal grooming, dressing, organization, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and monitor health status
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs
- Perform housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Support clients with mobility assistance, when necessary
- Offer companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Document care provided and report health, behavior and activity to supervisors or care team
- Assist with transportation to appointments or errands as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospice care, or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not necessary
- Knowledge of dementia care and senior care best practices is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks such as more difficult cleaning tasks is required for caregiving duties
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate nature and patience
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed care plans
- Strong grasp of the English language with clear spoken English is a must
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license is necessary
- Must pass vulnerable sector criminal record check
