Position Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Service Technician to install, service, and maintain high-end automated gate systems for high-end residential properties. This role involves working with advanced access control systems, precision mechanical components, and custom-designed gates that enhance both security and curb appeal. As a technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring these systems operate safely, reliably, and to the highest standards expected in premium residential environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission automated gate systems including:
- Sliding and swing gate operators
- Electric motors, actuators, and control panels
- Access systems (keypads, remotes, intercoms, sensors)
- Concrete forming and below grade conduit rough-in
- Perform on-site troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical and electrical components
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal system performance and longevity
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation plans
- Ensure all installations meet safety standards and operational requirements (including force testing and safety devices)
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and homeowners to deliver a seamless installation experience
- Provide exceptional customer service and educate clients on system operation and care
- Maintain accurate service records, job notes, and inventory usage
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred Background:
- Degree/Diploma in a related field
- Millwright, mechanical, or automotive technician experience
- Experience working with motors, hydraulics, or electromechanical systems
- Familiarity with installation environments (construction, residential builds, or service work)
- Basic electrical knowledge (low voltage wiring, controls, troubleshooting)
- Mechanical assembly and alignment skills
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Understanding of safety protocols and job site best practices
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- High attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Professional demeanor when working in residential settings
- Reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and grow within a specialized technical field
