Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kerala/South Indian Restaurant Kitchen Helper/Prep Cook to join our vibrant culinary team. This role is essential in supporting daily kitchen operations, preparing authentic South Indian dishes, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, experience in a restaurant environment, and a strong commitment to delivering quality meals to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation for traditional Kerala and South Indian dishes, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
- Support cooking processes by following recipes and instructions from the head chef or kitchen supervisor
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools
- Handle food safely and ensure proper storage of ingredients to prevent contamination
- Help with serving food during busy hours, ensuring timely delivery to customers
- Assist in setting up workstations for meal preparation and cleaning up after service
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety standards
- Experience with meal preparation and cooking, especially in Indian cuisine, is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of serving and food presentation techniques
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
