Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized Food Safety & Compliance Manager to oversee and maintain company-wide compliance with food safety, environmental, health & safety, and regulatory programs across all facilities.
This individual conducts all the operations necessary to maintain proactive compliance with industry and government legislative programs. Operational records of all facilities (ie: Food Safety, Health and Safety, Equitable Food Initiative (EFI), Ministry of Environment (MOE), etc..) will be maintained by this position, while also inspecting the facilities daily and training employees where applicable.
Compensation:
- $65,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and Coordinate programs including any annual audits across all locations (GR1, GR2 & GR3), ensuring consistency and standardization. Areas falling under the Compliance and Training Manager include:
- Food Safety, Health and Safety, Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) and Specialty Audits as required by our Distribution Partner and Bunkhouse inspections (all farms).
- Ownership of the EMP (sampling plan, trending, corrective actions and audit presentation).
- Manage all compliance filings with the Ministry of Environment and other requirements/certifications as specified by the Company’s regulators and applicable laws (packhouse license, bunk house inspections, etc…).
- Coordinate with inspectors, labs/consultants/municipal contacts, monitoring plans, results review, corrective actions and meet deadlines resulting from all compliance requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact point for auditors/certification bodies/customer audits (prep, on-site execution, corrective action follow-up and certification decision support).
- Explicit ownership of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA): Root cause investigations, implementation, verification and tracking to closure.
- Responsible for traceability verification and mock recall testing. These are audit-critical and extremely operationally important.
- Ownership of SOPs/forms/logs, revision control, training records, and maintaining an audit-ready documentation system across sites.
- Develop training needs with input from Growers and HR Specialist (forklift, chemical handing training, etc…) to ensure all certifications and training are obtained.
- Work with the grower to help develop programs to improve productivity and minimize waste.
- Onboarding and Training of new hires and returning staff (including review of Employee Handbook).
- Investigate accidents and incidents as it relates to food safety, compliance and environmental incidents (not only worker safety), including escalation and documentation.
- Cross functional interaction, reporting directly to the CFOO, the position requires strong communication and managing of other supervisors/managers/directors to ensure execution of key deliverables of the Compliance and Training Manager.

Position Requirements:
- Strong communication, organization, time management and multi-tasking skills required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- HACCP certification
- Enrolled or WHMIS certification
- Enrolled or JHSC Trained
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, managers, inspectors, and auditors
- Valid Class G License
Working Conditions:
Fast paced environment. Five days a week but may be called in during off hours when necessary. During peak season, extra hours of work may be required. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and to listen. The employee will be required to travel by car short distances.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
