Construction Labourer
Successful candidates will be mature individuals with the ability to perform a variety of job tasks such as: Assisting carpenters with residential renovations, assist in building decks and fences, commercial construction site labour, running small machines such as plate tampers, small compactors and use of hand tools.
Experience on construction sites is considered an asset and candidates with construction experience will be considered first. This is position is a hands-on labour job and requires candidates to be physically fit and capable of working in fast paced environments.
Experience working with earthworks and residential renovation companies will be considered and asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Assist with general labour duties on residential and commercial construction sites
- Help carpenters, lead hands and operators to carry out work as required
- Provide assistance such as acting as a spotter to operators and drivers
- Clean-up and tidy sites at the end of shift
- Provide ground assistance such as compaction watering and operation of small construction machinery
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year experience in residential and/or commercial construction
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license or have reliable transportation to and from work
- Supply their own personal safety equipment: hard hat, steel toe boots, hi-vis vest)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, racking, holding up and carrying materials
- Work will be both outside and inside in various weather environments
