Wage: $80,000 plus Benefits, RRSP plan
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the transportation industry in an Operations role and/or
a college diploma in transportation or business;
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of LTL industry, DOT rules and regulations;
- Leadership and/or management skills, able to multitask and a team player
- Excellent communication skills; organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and
efficiently;
- Lead by example philosophy;
- Knowledge of OS&D and the claims process;
- Computer literate, and skill to use the AS400 software/application;
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and ensure KPI's are met;
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and to meet deadlines.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managers are responsible for the loading and unloading of freight for assigned Dock Areas
- Responsible for planning, organizing and controlling various activities relating to loading and
unloading of freight;
- Plan daily manpower needs to ensure customers freight is delivered on time and damage free;
- Communicate with dispatch and with dock workers to coordinate the movement of trailers and
freight;
- Conducts pre-shift meetings/briefings to communicate values, strategies and company
objectives;
- Prioritizing transfer freight and next day delivery; Manage all the areas of the dock so as to
ensure the timely and efficient movement of freight on a daily basis and be accessible to all
areas of the dock;
- Supervise, coach, train and develop Dock Supervisors and dockworkers;
- Prepare and issue shift report to all relevant personnel;
- Deal with employee related issues such as reviews and discipline;
- Enforce Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures and continuously instill a safe working
environment;
