Renovation and Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Renovation and Facilities Maintenance Specialist to work directly with ownership on a wide range of renovation, maintenance, and improvement projects. These tasks will be both residential and commercial in nature at a local retirement community. The successful candidate will possess broad construction knowledge and hands-on experience in both residential and commercial environments, with the ability to complete projects safely, efficiently, independently and to a high standard of quality.
This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys a variety of work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and has a strong understanding of building systems, construction practices, applicable building codes, and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general renovation, repair, and maintenance work in residential and commercial settings.
- Complete carpentry projects including framing, finishing, trim work, cabinetry installation, and general repairs.
- Install, repair, and maintain various flooring systems.
- Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces.
- Install, repair, and finish drywall, including taping, mudding, sanding, and patching.
- Assist with basic plumbing repairs, fixture replacement, and system troubleshooting.
- Perform basic electrical and HVAC-related tasks within the scope of experience and applicable regulations.
- Identify issues requiring licensed trades and coordinate repairs as necessary.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and building inspections.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain organized worksites and ensure projects are completed in a professional manner.
- Assist in project planning, material procurement, and scheduling.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction, renovations, facilities maintenance, or a related skilled trade.
- Demonstrated experience working in both residential and commercial environments.
- Strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience of carpentry, flooring, painting, drywall, and general building maintenance.
- Understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work plans.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Own tools is preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstration of common sense, critical thinking skills and strong ability to multi-task.
- Fluent in english (verbal and written)
- Must have a negative police check for vulnerable sector
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, construction standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of safe workplace practices, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety legislation and safe operation of tools and equipment.

Work Environment
This position involves a combination of renovation, construction, repair, and maintenance activities in residential, commercial, and retirement-living settings. The role requires physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and operating construction and maintenance equipment while adhering to all applicable safety standards and regulations.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
