Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Short Order Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of quick-serve meals in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role requires strong food preparation skills, attention to food safety, and excellent serving and food handling abilities. The Short Order Cook will play a vital part in delivering high-quality meals promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items quickly and accurately according to established recipes and standards
- Handle food preparation tasks including chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients
- Cook a variety of dishes such as sandwiches, breakfast items, burgers, and other quick-serve foods
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Serve food to customers efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure freshness
Skills
- Proven experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments with a focus on meal preparation and cooking
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
- Excellent serving skills with the ability to deliver prompt, friendly service to customers
- Knowledge of food industry best practices related to quick-service meal preparation
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Good communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment used for short order cooking such as grills, fryers, and ovens
